The Palmer Home carriage house was selected by the Travel Channel (Samantha Brown) as the best vacation spot in Charleston. You can still see the program some mornings between 10:00 and 12:00. Check your local listings. The Palmer Home was voted as The Home with the best Front Porch-2002, The Home with Most Historical Charm-2003 and one of the top 25 B&BS (in USA) by Arrington Publishing.

The Palmer Home was built in 1848 by John Ravenel, whose son designed the "Little David", the first semi-submersible vessel and the forerunner to the submarine.
This private home is now operated by third generation owner, Francess Palmer. The house is furnished and decorated with antiques dating back two hundred years. The Palmer Home has been in operation since 1977.
